Bullseye Video Productions was born from frustration and necessity. The frustration came from spending massive sums of money on television advertising campaigns only to get mediocre results. The necessity came from the need to improve the bottom right hand corner of the financial statement.
After 17 years in the retail automotive business, I found myself constantly asking, “I wonder if I stopped advertising altogether if we’d still sell about the same number of units?” I’d look at the TV stations and time slots we bought and be completely satisfied that we had made the right media buys, but when the campaign began the results we always mixed. Finally it dawned on me that all the energy we spent on the campaign was on the buy and the “hook.” Nobody was placing expectations on the commercial itself. Either our ad agency or the TV station would produce a spot (as cheaply and quickly as they possibly could) and it looked as good as the other advertiser’s spots in our market so nobody asked questions. The status of the situation hit me like a freight train - our ads were getting “lost” in the jumble of all the other advertisers’ ads in the marketplace. I started to realize that if we could stand out - look better and be more impactful than our competitors - we’d get more out of every ad dollar we placed. It was with the thought of demanding more from our video production that I set out to find a company to produce spots that would set us apart in the marketplace. I quickly found out that there were two video production options available to advertisers - low quality and inexpensive or high quality and very expensive. What was worse is that nobody in the video production business spoke my language of retail automotive sales. And so Bullseye Video Productions was born.
